Here is a basic list of what you need to get. Remember to ask us first before buying anything so you don't buy the wrong thing or pay too much. Try to stay away from the dark green canvas web material and go for a more khaki color. That way you can go early war and late war. As far as clothing you can either use approved repro or original.

Helmet, M1 (required)
WW2 era helmets only. WW2 helmets should have a split in rim located in the front (seam) and the helmet must be in the correct color. If you get a helmet with a seam in the front it is definitely WW2 era. Fixed bale helmets are preferred over Swivel Bales, but swivel bales are allowed. What is a fixed bale well, look at the steel loop on the steel pot where the chin stap attaches if it is welded and doesn't move it is a Fixed Bale. Straps must be khaki in color and sewn onto the bales. Liner must be of WW2 vintage and have khaki colored HBT suspension and leather chinstrap. Since it is hard to obtain WW2 liners certain exceptions can be made (some Korean War era liners are acceptable) speak to some one in the unit first if this is the case. |
